On June 10, Sisters of Charity of Nazareth gathered in Kanye for a small but meaningful celebration marking the silver jubilee of Sister Mary Michael. Although her actual jubilee anniversary fell on May 12, Sister Mary preferred a quiet observance rather than a large event. Respecting her wishes, the community came together for a simple day of prayer, fellowship and gratitude.
The gathering began with a short prayer service during which they gave thanks for Sister Mary’s 25 years of faithful religious commitment and service. Following the prayer, they shared a meal and enjoyed a warm time of conversation and reflection. Many stories and memories were shared, especially about Sister Mary’s journey, ministry and the positive impact she has had on the lives of many people.
The celebration provided an opportunity not only to honor Sister Mary but also to strengthen bonds as a community. It was a joyful occasion marked by gratitude, friendship and appreciation for her commitment and witness.
After spending the day together, the group returned to Metsimotlhabe with thankful hearts and happy memories.
