As Dec. 13 approaches, we look toward a milestone rooted deeply in our shared mission. In 1947, the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth stepped onto Indian soil for the first time, opening Nazareth Hospital and extending their ministry beyond the United States. Their response echoed the call of the Gospel and the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul: to serve Christ in those most in need.

From that beginning grew a broad mission shaped by education, health care, social justice, and care for creation. Generations of Sisters and partners have continued this work, steady in service and attentive to God’s presence in the people they accompany.

As we honor those pioneer Sisters, we recognize how their courage shaped decades of ministry. Their example continues to guide us as the SCN family strengthens communities across India. Happy Foundation Day, India.
