The National Domestic Workers Movement–Delhi marked International Domestic Workers Day on June 16, recognizing the contributions of domestic workers around the world.
The National Domestic Workers Movement plays an important role in supporting domestic workers and raising public awareness about their value to society. The event provided a platform to discuss their struggles, working conditions, and legal rights through awareness sessions.
A total of 260 domestic workers participated. Other nonprofit organizations supporting domestic workers—such as the SEWA Union, Gharelu Kaamgar Panchayat Union, Shahari Gharelu Kaamgar Union, and the Gharelu Kaamgar Network—also took part in the program.
Domestic workers presented the following demands:
- The formation of an expert committee to implement the Supreme Court judgment on domestic worker issues.
- Comprehensive legislation for domestic workers through the expert committee, as mandated by the court.
