The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and the staff who established Nazareth Academy laid a foundation of strength and purpose. Their persistence and vision helped the school not only begin but thrive.

Nazareth Academy in Gaya has been ranked among the top ten co-educational day schools in Bihar by Cfore, an organization that evaluates schools across India. This recognition adds a new chapter to the school’s history, one rooted in learning, character, and community.

For alumna Surbhi Kumari, class of 2007, the honor carries personal meaning. “My heart is overflowing with pride today as my alma mater, Nazareth Academy, has been ranked among the Top 10 Co-ed Day Schools in Bihar by Cfore Rankings,” she said. Surbhi noted that Nazareth has always been more than a school. It was where values, discipline, and dreams were nurtured, and where friendships and lessons shaped lives.

Today, her daughter Siya is also a student at Nazareth. For Surbhi, seeing her child walk the same corridors is a continuation of the Academy’s legacy of excellence and compassion. She described the recognition as a tribute to the Sisters, teachers, and staff who have carried the Nazareth spirit forward year after year.

The Academy’s story began in 1939 as Saint Michael’s School, later becoming Loreto Convent. In 1951, the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth assumed leadership under Sister Charles Miriam with an enrollment of 160 students. Since then, the Academy has steadily expanded, affiliating with the Central Board of Secondary Education and later upgrading to the +2 level.

Subhasish Roy, an alumnus and blogger from Kolkata, wrote, “So glad to see my school Nazareth Academy, Gaya, at no. eight position in the whole of Bihar. Proud moment for all of us who studied there and built a strong foundation to succeed in life.”

Today, Nazareth Academy prepares students for higher studies and professional life while emphasizing compassion and integrity. Alumni can be found across professions in India and abroad, carrying the spirit of their alma mater into their lives and work.

Nazareth Academy’s recognition by Cfore is both a reflection of its history and a promise for its future. The achievement belongs to students, teachers, parents, and alumni alike. Once a Nazarite, always a Nazarite.
