The InterCongregational Collaborative Novitiate (ICCN) welcomed a new cohort on August 20 and began the four-day orientation of novices and their formation directors. Together, they learned about the upcoming year’s program: Classes, weekly schedules, connecting with home congregations, prayer, liturgy, reflection day opportunities, and networking with peers in the area. To mark the beginning of their experience, there was a liturgy at the house, a welcoming ritual, a festive meal, and even a boat tour on the Chicago River!
Following the departure of the home formation directors, the novices continued their orientation, beginning with retreat at a local retreat center. The next two weeks were filled with getting to know one another, learning more about the neighborhood, deciding how to share household responsibilities, and learning new routines.
This year’s cohort of peers is made up of four novices from four different congregations:
- The Adrian Dominican Sisters
- Missionary Servants of the Most Blessed Trinity
- Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange
- The Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto
Each year, the ICCN is blessed with women who come from distinct charisms and diverse backgrounds.
There is so much that can be learned from each other, and there are many opportunities for spiritual, relational, intellectual, and intercultural growth.
