Notes of Gratitude:
- Thank you, everyone. Lorraine “Ma” Smith’s family and loved ones in St. Katharine Drexel Parish (Boston) are grateful for all the prayers for her through her health challenges in recent months.
She was a courageous and generous woman, and surrounded by family and dear friends, she went home to God’s welcome table at the end of August. As a breast cancer survivor, she advocated for breast cancer awareness. Ma/Mama Smith was a loving mentor of, and a fierce advocate for, youth and young people for over three decades—on World Youth Day trips, Katrina solidarity, and especially at the Ron Burton Training Village in Massachusetts, where she inspired youth, parents, staff, and donors.
At her Mass/Homegoing, her legacy was proclaimed through the witness and reflections that went on for over 30 minutes. May she rest in peace.
May we all continue to pray for, and support however we can, all of our children and young adults around the world.
