As we look to the 500th anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity will share resources that help all of us to celebrate this event with greater joy and love for our Blessed Mother.

Here is a stained glass window from St. Ambrose Church, Houston, Texas. Father Hieu Nguyen is the pastor of this church found in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. You are invited to see and pray in person.

Among the faithful St. Ambrose parish members are men and women who have a strong devotion to the Holy Mother of God, the Virgin Mary of the Americas, Our Lady of Guadalupe.  Guadalupanas Society, the name they have chosen for themselves, not only meets the Third Saturday of the month at 8:30 a.m., but they participate in these activities.

  • Present for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Wednesdays.
  • Attend regularly scheduled Rosaries each month and the novena in December.
  • Support the celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe on her feast day – December 11 and 12
  • Sponsor the celebration of our Community Posada
  • Support church fundraisers (garage sale and sponsoring a booth during the bazaar)

A Blessed Mother quote from Guadalupe  Translation From the Aztec Language published by Guadalupe Abbey encourages all of us in our devotion to the Mother of God: “Do listen, do be assured of it in your heart, my  littlest one, that nothing at all should alarm you, should trouble you, nor in any way disturb your countenance, your heart…For am I not here, I, your mother? Are you not in the cool of my shadow? In the breeziness of shade? Are you not cradled in my mantle? Cuddled in the crossing of my arms? Is there anything else for you to need?”
