Holy Union Completes Pilgrimage to the Holy Door in Rome
Home
In early March of 2025, several of our Sisters from the US traveled to Rome to participate in our Enlarged General Council Meeting (EGCM). This meeting includes Holy Union Sisters from every congregation Area (France/Belgium, England/Ireland, United States, Argentina, Tanzania, and Cameroon) as well as our Generalate in Rome. This year, as part of the Jubilee Year of the Church, as declared by Pope Francis, we participated in a pilgrimage to the Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica. In addition to the Sisters who attended in person we brought along a heart-shaped boat containing colored strips of paper with every Holy Union Sister’s name from every area around the world, allowing us all to enter the doors together, at least symbolically.
It was a remarkable experience as together we walked the long path leading to the door, entering as one community through the door. Rome is a unique place, and standing so close to where St. Peter, our first Pope walked when he was in the flesh gave us much to reflect on and be grateful for.
