A joyful energy filled the Nazareth campus this weekend as the Run with a Mission 5K returned for 2026. This year’s “Peace, Love and Tie-Dye” theme was a hit among Sisters and community members alike, with participants dressed in vibrant tie-dye shirts, colorful sunglasses, flower crowns, headbands, and peace-sign accessories. Nearly 300 participants registered for the annual event, joining both in person at Nazareth and virtually from communities across the country to support the ministries of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth.
The Run with a Mission 5K began in 2019 as a way to strengthen community connections while supporting the Sisters’ mission and ministries. Since then, the event has continued to grow, welcoming participants of all ages and abilities to experience one of Kentucky’s most scenic and historic campuses.

This year’s course once again guided runners and walkers through the beautiful Nazareth Motherhouse grounds. Beginning at Holy Family Circle, participants traveled past the iconic spires of St. Vincent de Paul Church, along the lakes, and by the Nazareth Villages and community garden. For many, the scenic route itself has become part of the tradition.

Each year, the 5K brings people together while supporting meaningful projects. Funds raised through this year’s event will support summer programming for children, helping provide opportunities for learning, creativity, outdoor exploration, and personal growth.
Sisters, Associates, volunteers, Nazareth employees and their families all helped make the day special by either participating in the race or helping at stations.
From competitive runners to first-time participants, the day offered something for everyone. Some pushed toward the finish line in pursuit of a top time, while others crossed side by side with friends and family, celebrating the accomplishment together. The wide range of participants reflected the reach of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, with fellow Sisters, Associates, community volunteers, church groups, employees, families, neighbors, and supporters all taking part in the day’s festivities.
Theresa Graves, of Bardstown, won Best Dressed for this year’s Peace, Love and Tie-Dye theme.
The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth are grateful to everyone who participated, volunteered, sponsored, donated, or cheered others on throughout the event. Every step taken helps support and continue the mission of service that remains at the heart of Nazareth.
