Prayers for Peace
In the wake of the most recent escalation of violence in the Middle East, the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati express our deep concern and join the heartfelt appeal of Pope Leo XVI to halt the spiral of violence: “Stability and peace are not built with mutual threats nor with weapons that sow destruction, pain and death, but only through a dialogue that is reasonable, authentic and responsible.”
We call on all parties to pursue solutions rooted in diplomacy, nonviolence, and the protection of innocent life. As Pope Leo XVI reminds us, “Only peace, a gift from God, can heal the wounds between peoples.”
We pray for all who are suffering and for all who are in danger. Let us join together in prayer for peace.
