“In heaven there will be no committee meetings - thank God!”
This comment expresses the committee fatigue common to many women and men religious today. For years, meetings have consumed precious energy and time; some helpful, others, not so. I am using “committee” in a broad sense to include all persons who at any stage of formation have the task of making decisions on who gets to enter religious life. The criteria used in making this judgment need to be clear and public in order to minimize the fallout when a member is not accepted, either initially or during the formation process which lasts until final vows.
