Sharon Gray, SCN, recently returned from a month in Belize, where she immersed herself in ministry and leadership development in the southern Toledo district. Staying with Sister Higinia, she spent most of her time engaging with dedicated village church leaders, whose commitment to their faith and service deeply inspired her.
During her visit, Sister Sharon led two retreats for Senior Catechists—individuals who have devoted over 30 years to ministry. Together, they discussed and prayed for future and younger leaders. She also conducted workshops for women catechists, focusing on Homiletics as a continuation of last year’s training. Many of these women are stepping into leadership roles for the first time, and the discussions ranged across a variety of topics.
A key highlight of her journey was the support of two catechists who provided vital translations between Ke’kchi Mayan and English, ensuring the retreats and workshops were accessible and impactful. Before returning, Sister Sharon also spent a few nights in Belize City, visiting with Sister Carlette and Sister Kerry.
“As always, I am grateful for the opportunity to spend some time in ministry, particularly with the village leaders,” she said.
